Moped Parking Guidelines

Permits

A valid Baylor permit is required to park on campus Monday-Friday 7:00 AM- 5:00 PM.

Moped Permits are physical permits (not virtual) and the sticker must be placed near the license plate of the moped. Most are displayed on an 'inspection plate'.

The registered license plate information must also be correct and updated by the permit owner. 

Mopeds must be parked in moped lots that correspond with their permit. Refer to the moped parking map and/or posted signage to determine the parking permit required for each lot.

Mopeds are always required to park in moped designated parking spaces.  On weekends, holidays and after 5 PM (until 7:00 AM) a specific moped permit is not required to park in the moped lots.

Authorization to park in special areas can only be granted by written permission from Parking and Transportation Services.

Moped permits are NOT transferable and are only good for one specific vehicle. Contact Parking Services if your permit is lost or damaged.

Mopeds parking on campus, displaying neither a permit nor a license plate may be towed at the owner/operators’ expense. 

Operation

Mopeds are motorized vehicles and will be expected to operate exclusively on vehicle roadways. Mopeds are NOT allowed to operate/drive on sidewalks, grass areas or closed streets on campus. Failure to adhere to these regulations may result in a moving violation.

A valid moped driver's license endorsement is required to operate these vehicles. Visit the Texas Department of Public Safety website for more information.

Motorcycle/Moped Classification 

Mopeds and motorcycles are classified as two different types of vehicles.  Motorcycles have a “rider’s saddle” that require the operator to straddle the vehicle.  Mopeds have a seat and floorboard where the operator’s feet could be placed side by side. 

Vehicles in this category with any modifications or not fitting these descriptions will be classified at the discretion of Parking and Transportation Services.
